Letters from our Amazing Driven Passionate Community
Living in the pandemic is a humbling and grueling experience for many of us. The fear (Covid and Asian hate crimes), silo and loneliness took a toll on many people mentally, including me.
I am so grateful that Alliance for Impact (AFI, formerly Chinese Coffee Club) quickly switched from in-person round tables to virtual webinars and meetings, organizing 300+ webinars covering a wide variety of topics. As a participant, I learned the latest development in FinTech, venture capital, investing, as well as invaluable communication, influencing and leadership skills.
As a volunteer, I had the opportunity to organize and host 10+ webinars, gradually honing my communication, presentation and moderating skills.
As a student, I enrolled in the inaugural career development bootcamp, and benefited tremendously from the intense 2 day training, the monthly special speaker discussion, the 1-1 coaching sessions and the on-going cohort meet-ups. I was able to meet and learn from all the positive, energetic and thoughtful instructors and network with students from various industries. The power of holding each other accountable goes a long way.
I feel a sense of belonging and home away from home. I’ve known Angelene and Ping for a long time. They both had very successful corporate careers yet they’ve decided to pour their passion, resources and experiences into AFI, with the objective of establishing a platform for Asian American community to thrive and shine. They’ve chosen the road less traveled and I sincerely hope that AFI could win more recognition and support to continue to be the torch and guiding star for many generations to come.
I’m very grateful that I met Angelene and AFI during the pandemic and took advantage of Joy and Hope’s Energy Leadership group coaching this year. Just want to share that the coaching elevated me by
1. increased awareness of my energy levels including energy blockers that are holding me back.
2. mindset shift from “I have to” or “I need” to “I choose to”: I take full ownership of my choices and focus on the controllable. Purposefully think through what I want and take action, a step at a time, including effective communication and relationship building.
3. extending the impact to my child and family as my reflections become part of dinner table conversations.
Energy Leadership is a framework with practical day-to-day tools, guided by Joy and Hope. Joy and Hope are inspiring, full of wisdoms and more importantly, they continue to practice Energy Leadership and share their ongoing reflections! I’m so glad I’m on my growth journey with Joy➕Hope and diverse alumni! Appreciate the company and all the sharing which is uplifting and contagious! I look forward to the continued elevation and growth with the group in 2022!
